This highly interactive session, which got top ratings at SMPS National Conference, moves participants through the entire process of learning how to become top-notch presenters, all while remaining true to their own personalities. Attendees will learn both the intellectual and physical skills that allow the presenter to look as intelligent and as competent as he or she truly is. Participants will also learn how to demonstrate their knowledge and capabilities and how to coach their colleagues in the same skills. This is not a cookie-cutter program; it is completely flexible to meet the exact needs of the attendees, just as their presentations must meet the exact needs of their client or audience. We will not play games or use theater exercises but will focus on high-spirited role-play that reflects real life situations.

Susan Murphy has presented “The Questionable Interview” at SMPS Regional and National Conferences for the last 15 years; however, it wasn’t until recently that the AEC world started to take notice, as more and more interviews have become limited to Q&A. This session teaches a very specific approach to the Q&A Interview, which involves highlighting the skills and experience of the presenters while making the points that would normally be covered in a regular presentation. Attendees will learn how to control the process, change direction at any time, show teamwork, and, above all, answer the questions in a way that will win more work.
